The best thing about a 5 day weekend!

I have to admit there are lots of really great things about a 5 day weekend; however the best thing about my 5 day weekend was I got to spend all of it with my husband. This past weekend was great! It started out Friday morning, just like every other weekend, we spend the morning running to the grocery store and giving the house a good scrub down. Then family arrived! Around 3pm Grandma Nan, Momma Nell, and Little Lila moved in! We went for a hike, ate some lasagna and caught up. Saturday was great, window shopping, a little bit more hiking, and an even better dinner prepared by my husband (the recipe from that wonderful dinner party from the previous week). My husband and I took turns feeding, snuggling, and oohing and awing over Little Lila. By the way Little Lila is the most beautiful 6 month old little girl we've ever seen. Sadly Sunday morning Grandma Nan, Momma Nell, and Little Lila packed up and headed home because it was Valentine's Day. Charlie and I crashed! After 2 jam packed days we were exhausted. The minute the family left I fell asleep on the couch and Charlie started playing a video game. Around noon we decided to run an errand and then sat on the couch and started to watch some TV. Later that night we had reservations for a fancy dinner... about 2 hours before we were supposed to leave we changed into our pj's and ordered Chinese food. It was a great Valentine's Day! Monday we spent time in the office/studio and just spent time together and prepared for the next day and going back to work. Yesterday(Tuesday) started with a phone call at 6am. It was official Charlie's School (my husband teaches 7th and 8th grade theater in Hamden) declared it was a Snow Day! I still had work and two doctors appointments that morning. We made it safely to both of my appointments and then the snow and freezing rain started to fall in Naugatuck. I declared it a snow day of my own. So we spent all of yesterday together. I don't think we've spent that much time together for Months. It was exactly what we needed. Hooray for 5 day weekends!

NYC

So Last weekend we had the opportunity to attend a dinner party in NYC. We live a trains ride away from NYC and never go down. This time we did and it was wonderful! We hopped on a train in Westport around 4pm and were in the city by 5:30ish. We stopped at a friends for a short time then we all headed out to the party. This was a type of reunion for all of my husbands college friends. I met wonderful people, learned of new adventures, and celebrated engagements. Wines and wonderful foods were plentiful. We started to loose track of time and suddenly it was past midnight. We decided it was time to catch our train home so we said goodbye to friends and caught a cab. We got to the station with plenty of time, got a bottle of water and headed towards the platform. Then my husband realized he forgot his bag with all of his grading and the car keys at our friends apartment in Tribeca. So we got back in a taxi, drove back to Tribeca and picked up the bag then back to the train station. We arrived back at the train station with 3 minutes to spare, so we ran to our train. Entered the car and found a friend. My husband is very lucky there was someone on the train so I started to forget how upset I was. After everything it turned out to be a great night!

Another day: Today just happens to be in February

Today is another day, all the groundhogs saw their shadows, a person I know got canned, it's February. I seem to have been in a haze these days. January just happened to keep going until I realized yesterday was a new month. When your life gets too busy and you can hardly keep up with it all you can think about is some time off. When the time off comes you have thought about it, you have a plan. What happens if the plan doesn't happen?

That was January 2010. I finished a gig and crashed; I think back and remember I had a plan. There were projects and goals. I was going to make a lot of things, I had inspiration and feeling productive. Then I got home and sat down... nothing. I sat in a chair for close to a week, sitting, staring at the TV. I didn't knit, draw, or even think about doing anything. I'm pretty sure I spent a few days in my PJ's. I wasn't depressed, just crashed. It's hard to explain if you've never felt the crash, I think everyone has, just think back to college vacations.

Now I'm back! At least the want is back. I want to make things again and be apart of everything again. I am still tired, but all of that will soon be explained away. I'm getting back on schedule, the schedule has changed, but I'm getting back to it. Better late than never. So here I sit, ready to start again.

Hello February!
